We sit in the area at the back\, usually in the long booth-seating section along the windowed back wall. You can ask the staff; they’re familiar with us! \nPlease register via Eventbrite so we know how many people to expect. \nThis month’s discussion will be ✷Distilling Your Ideas✷ \nSo you have an idea that you like\, now what? How do you take those nebulous ideas and translate them into an actual full-length story? How long should you let an idea sit in your desk drawer while you cogitate upon it? And how do you accentuate the parts that attracted it to you in the first place? \nWriters of all genres\, mediums\, and skill levels are most welcome at the table. Come join us for an hour or two! \nThere will be a Write-In afterwards at a nearby café\, so if you would like to join\, you are welcome to bring your writing implements with you and walk over with us after the discussion.

DESCRIPTION:The submission deadline for the July Critique Session is:\nJune 24th\, 2026 (Wed) \nSpecific times and locations for in-person feedback sessions\, as well as submission details\, are only available to those who are part of the Critique channel on the Writers of Ottawa Discord server. \n  \nTo join a critique session for the month\, you must:\n– Submit a piece of writing that is 2000 words or less (if the piece is longer than that\, your peers may choose to give feedback for just the first 2000 words)\n– Commit to providing feedback to everyone else that has submitted something for that session (content warnings are required\, and you can opt out of reading pieces – full guidelines in the Critique channel) \nJoining the critique group just for one session at a time is permitted. \nIf you are interested in joining\, please use tag @organizer in the #writing-chat channel of the Writers of Ottawa Discord server to request access.
